The Bonaventure Trilogy
The Bonaventure Trilogy is a wonderful fast-paced set of stories written by David Alric for young people and adventure lovers of all ages. The individual books of the trilogy are described in more detail on their respective pages (The Promised One, The Valley of the Ancients and African Pursuit) but there are some important general points to be made that apply to them all.
- All three books are suitable for both boys and girls. David wrote the books for his grandchildren – three boys and three girls!
- The books are principally aimed at children aged 10-13, but good readers as young as eight will enjoy them and younger children can read them with their parents. The books have also been written so as have a general appeal and many older children and adults love the storylines of the books with their unique mixture of excitement and fascinating factual information.
- Written in superb English by a medical professor each of the three books contains a wealth of scientific, historical and literary information; a comprehensive glossary of the difficult words and phrases in the text and informative educational appendices about the human and animal characters in the stories. The basic adventure stories are skilfully interwoven with authoritative insights into geography, history, pre-history, botany, zoology, ecology and palaeontology.
- The books would make a perfect addition to any school library; their subject matter relates to a variety of curriculum requirements and they are ideal class reading material for English lessons.
